Join us for Premier workshops from 11 am
to 1:00 pm
Permaculture on the Farm with
Erik Ohlsen and members of the R.I.T.E.S. Project — Learn
more about the world of Permaculture and how the ethics and principles
are being employed on the farm at Ocean Song. In this dynamic session
you will be empowered with ideas and ways to make a difference
in your life and your own back yard.
Natural Building Tour with Kate
Lundquist — Ocean Song's examples of natural building
include straw bale benches, Cob benches, natural paints and
plasters and a beautifully crafted Cob Wall. Kate has been
one the main orchestrators of these structures and will share
her expertise in the field.
Guided Plant Walk with
Leith Carstarphen — Wild edible and useful plants:
Wander through the pastoral landscapes looking for food and medicines. By
harvesting the plants that grow in our surroundings, we literally
knit ourselves to the place we call home
The Art of Wandering, with
Arrow Anderson — Release your mind and awaken your senses
as we forage through forest and field, following in the footsteps
of the four-leggeds. Sink into your native roots and sprout inquisitive
leaves, as we peruse the secret gardens of eatin. Arrow has an
intimate knowledge of the Ocean Song natural environment, gained
from his 15 years of wandering through our woods.

On going workshops from 2-4 pm
Draft Horses with Stuart Schroder
and his team — Learn about using draft horses and take a
carriage ride around Ocean Song. The strength and beauty of these
animals will amaze you!
Tree Planting and Seed Ball Creation with
Ocean Song Garden Staff — Plant a tree and spread seed at
Ocean Song! We will be digging holes and planting trees throughout
the garden and farm. We are accepting in-kind donations of native
and fruit trees and seeds. Make a “seed ball” and
take it home to inoculate your garden…spread seed goodness
to Sonoma County and beyond!
Cob Making with Ocean Song Staff — Get
your feet and hands dirty as we work with this incredible building
material, cob; a mixture of earth, sand, straw, clay and water.
We will use the material to begin a new bench. |
