From
Creeks to the Ocean
|
|
Students
from 4th to 6th grade are exploring Ocean Song's trails,
meadows
and ponds, and learning about intertidal life at the coast
through "From
Creeks to the Ocean." Funded by the California Coastal
Commission Whale Tail
License Fund, the program has given hundreds of students
from economically disadvantaged backgrounds an opportunity to learn about the
local environment
free of charge.
This year 12 classes will spend one day at Ocean Song and
one at Shell Beach. The link between fresh water and marine
ecology is explored through
games, observation and demonstration.
